The
primary purpose of the information in this web site is to inform
and educate owners of freehold mineral rights on issues affecting
freehold mineral ownership. FHOA has designed the site to help
you more fully understand
WHAT YOU OWN
(“Privately Held Subsurface Hydrocarbons”,
“Ownership of Oil and Gas”,
“About Oil and Gas”)
THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU AND OTHER FREEHOLD OWNERS FACE
(“The Plight of Freehold Owners”,
“FHOA’s Concerns”)
YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE OIL COMPANY THAT LEASES
YOUR MINERAL RIGHTS
(“The Development of the Freehold
Lease”,
“The Freehold Owner-Lessor /
Oil Company-Lessee Relationship”,
“Conflicts Between Oil Company-Lessees
and Freehold Owner-Lessors”)
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN FREEHOLD LEASE AGREEMENTS
(“Introduction to Your Lease”,
“Understanding Your Lease Agreement”)
If you have questions or concerns regarding
your mineral interests, the Freehold Owners Association is someone
you can contact.
If your mineral interests are not currently
leased or your existing lease agreement is about to expire,
FHOA can provide you with education and information to help
you evaluate the terms and conditions in the lease agreements
currently being used by most oil companies and their land agents,
and to help you negotiate fair and reasonable terms in any new
lease of your minerals (“FHOA Seminars”,
“Newsletters”, “CAPL
Leases”, “CAPL 99 - Suggested
Modifications”, “CAPL 91
- Suggested Modifications”).
If you want current information on well
and land activity in the immediate vicinity of your mineral
rights to help you negotiate a new lease agreement, the Freehold
Owners Association can provide members with this information
for a modest fee (“Technical Information
Request”).
If your mineral interests are currently
leased, FHOA can provide you with education and information
to help you to determine whether your oil company-lessee is
complying with the terms and conditions in your lease agreement
and to decide what to do if the company is not (“FHOA
Seminars”, “Newsletters”,
“Understanding Your Lease Agreement”).
If you wish to obtain current information on the geological
zones penetrated in, and the production from, wells on, or in
the immediate vicinity of, your mineral interests to protect
your mineral interests from possible drainage or to monitor
production from wells on your lands, FHOA can provide this information
to you “Technical Information Request”).
Perhaps most importantly, FHOA can help
you by providing you and other freeholders with a common voice
in expressing the legitimate concerns of freehold owners to
the oil and gas industry, industry regulators and governments,
and in seeking fairer treatment for all freehold owners (see
“A Common Voice”).
